We were big fans of Intermeida until the pricing went extremely high and support and uptime fell though the floor. We just recovered from no inbound email service for 4 days. It took 2 days before the Russiun support team to acknolege a problem and then 2 days to think about it. The previous outage we were down for 3 days and they had to restore from tape (So much for EMC relablity) Pricing for sharepoint is over $400 per month and so slow you can watch paint dry. We are looking for a new providor and hopefully get off this mess asap.

RUN AWAY!!! Do NOT use 1and1.com. I lost a year's worth of contact information saved up on their address book after I lost connectivity for no reason. Was able to connect to other Exchange servers but not 1and1.com. No explanation and no fix. DO NOT USE!!!!

We were hosted on 1and1 for over 2 years. I must say, the first 1.5 year was OK. No major issue although some downtime from now and then. But the last 6 months have been a real nightmare. Multiple outages, complete server failures needing full mailbox restores (4 times), lost e-mails (corrupted new e-mails that could not be recovered), you name it. We are switching providers ASAP. Two of my users are currently receiving mail thru a POP server because their Exchange account is still down (over 2 weeks now). I cannot recommend this hosting provider to anyone. They have the best rates, but the worst uptime and support so its not worth it.

We'll be moving another customer away from 1and1 this week. That will be the third this year due to frequent service outages. Current problems at 1and1 have left one of our customer’s without access to Exchange for a full week. 1and1 has not been able to explain the issue other than "we're having problems and we don't know when they will be resolved". They refuse to escalate the issue internally and we have not been able to get a call back from anyone in their support group. We certainly will not use their service or recommend them again.

1and1 has been absolutely, hands down my worst vendor. My impression of tech support is that they do nothing more than read from a script, to troubleshoot the most basic of issues. You can not get to second level support. No matter how much you beg, plead or crawl. You will never, ever talk to second tier support. Additionally, multiple e-mail accounts have been lost for days. On one occassion, all e-mail accounts for empty for 2 days because 1and1 confused e-mail dns w/ our website dns. Again... could not discuss the issue w/ second tier suppor no matter what. Especially w/in the last few months, there have been multiple server crashes, and issues maintaining a connection to their servers. Outlook comes up as "Offline" frequently. Delivery of e-mail is frequently delayed for days. The price is just ok. If your e-mail is only of mild importance, do it. Otherwise

Avoid 1AND1 at all costs! I thought the price was great and it worked fine for more than a year, but for the past 6 months it has been horrible. Exchange is unavailable for hours at a time and their "tech support" is a joke. They act as though they don't know there's an issue, then provide a workaround, but say they don't know why it's necessary. A friend had th e same issues and has already moved to another provider. I'm in the process of moving as well.

I sent them the following mail: --- A few weeks ago I ordered an exchange account with you. As you can see below, I have since been trying to explain to you how to turn off the feature on your exchange server that obliges me to have an inactivity password. Most mails were responded referring me to your FAQ (in which of course there is nothing mentioned about it) or to the manufacturer of my phone (which has nothing to do with this). As you can see, in your last mail you have promised me to forward an image to your system administrator, showing which tick (yes, all this discussion was about only ONE tick!) should be turned off. Not having heard from you since, and also this feature still being turned on, I have now concluded that you have not done this. I have ordered a new account at Sherweb, verifying that they do not have this inactivity password setup. I was very relieved that they knew immediately what I was talking about (as I would have initially expected from you as well) and told me that this feature was not turned on. Finally, trying to check my last mails received on my 1and1 account, I noticed that you were having many troubles with your OWA. I can summarize my experiences with 1and1 as follows: - Bad customer service (never solving a problem: simply referring to the FAQ or a device manufacturer) - No technical knowledge - Unreliable service - Low price As you can understand I am absolutely not completely happy with your service, and I therefore want to make use of the 90 day money back guarantee. I request your confirmation of the full refund. --- After which they absolutely confirmed everything I stated about their customer service with their reply: --- Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for the inconvenience you encounter in our exchange. Foryou question about how to set up a push mail, we can only provide youthe information needed but in configuring or setting it up in yourmobile device it is out of our scope of support. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us. --- This says enough I would say: don't even think about going with them.

When, when when will 1and1 release Exchnage Server 2007? I'm getting sick of living in 2003-land... things like server-side RSS, OVA, categories, good server-search, pop-blocker-awareness-in-OWA, HTML email from my windows mobile device, remote wipe from owa etc etc etc are totally essential to me! Could 1&1 please hurry up deploying this, especially to UK customers? It's been over a YEAR now... more than that if you count beta period. I can't believe 1&1 are so far behind. PLEASE!

My exchange account has been down 3 times in 30 days, today it's down 12 hours and still not back up. My free gmail and hotmail accounts work fine. Why am I paying for this service? Also emails sent from Hotmail arrive at the destination 7-13 seconds faster than 1and1 email, why am I paying for this again?? Can someone remind me why I am paying for this crap service? hotmail outperformed 1and1.com 10 to 1.

My company uses 1and1 for exchange hosting. I don't know how 1and1 stays in business--their reliability is terrible. It has been problematic since we started with them back in February, and over the last couple of months, it has been nearly unusable. If you call customer service, you spend a good half hour on hold, only for them to tell you "yeah, we are having problems, we don't know when they'll be fixed"--thanks for wasting my time. Our company is going to migrate to another provider ASAP.

1and1 is terrible, I'm currently looking for a new exchange host to recommend to my clients. The service has been extremely problematic for the last several months and whenever I call I get the same "we're upgrading to Exchange 2007, it'll be fixed soon." It's been months.

The service was OK for the past year or so (within its limitations), but for the last three months it has been *terrible*. The servers are often unavailable for hours at a time. Calling support sometimes (eventually) gives a back door to a server that has not yet been 'upgraded' - that sometimes works for a while, then they probably clobber that server too. They will not make any comment about what is going wrong, or when the nightmare may end. If you imagined that you were getting rid of headaches by outsourcing your Exchange, you would be wrong if you go with 1and1. All these problems with the most basic infrastructure - going on for weeks and crippling the most important business infrastructure - now I'm nervous about other services that 1and1 is hosting for me.

update from prior posting on 9/24: It took 1and1 a full 5 days to restore the inbox data after their exchange failed. Now we see many duplicate calendar and task items. ActiveSync for mobile still does not work and it has been more than 6 days since the exchange crashed. Response from their tech support: "If we don't satisfy your needs, it is best that you select another provider" What do you respond to that?

I had to use their automated cancelation route because they would not do it during the phone call. Now I see why they are waiting for you to make a mistake on the frustrating form so they can continue to charge you for something you did not fill out correctly.I am be charge for a extra month for not checking the proper box.I would NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE TO ANYONE. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE.Let me go take a couple more tylenol my head is killing me.

1and1 is a host making dishonest money OFF their customers (i.e. us!)! Do not subscribe with them unless you want to loose money EVEN AFTER you cancel your service with them. They charged me for three months AFTER i canceled their services adapting the bill to fit their accounting date. (I canceled on May 21, they issued a bill for May 20 saying that i canceled one day too late, hence, charging me for THREE months! Outrageous! All other bills were scheduled between the 1st and 5th of each month, therefore I mush have been billed between the 1st and 5th of June). Terrible... On the tech side, they give an awfully small space to build a website with very limited choice of web pages available. You must subscribe to more features, hence more money in order to have more space and/or choice and I am still not sure that this is indeed more. (Lack of space is particularly evident if one wants to create an album or any sort of visual page). I will NOT recommend to anyone to use 1and1 - they were dishonest, greedy, lacking flexibility and creativity.

I've been an exchange hosting customer of 1&1 for several months now and I'm looking to switch. I hate it because the price is the best but...folks, you get what you pay for. I should've read reviews first. The reliability just isn't what I need and want. For the last 2 days now I haven't been able to access my mail via OWA and that is of major importance. When i email support about it they first said it was fixed and all was good (it wasn't) and after a 2nd email said they realized the problem had either replicated itself or a new one had arisen. Sorry but I can't live with that. As someone else said, if price is your main thing then 1&1 is one of, if not the, best but other than that...well, the review speaks for itself.

I've been a 1&1 customer for several years. Over the last 6 months we've had difficulty being blacklisted on various servers due to spam being sent from 1&1's perfora.net servers. We're also having periodic issues connecting to the server. It's time to switch. I would only recommend this company if bottom line price is your only concern. If you rely on your email for business, look elsewhere.

Like with any hosting provider the range of experiences can be great. My advice: check all the specifications, then check the price, then check the guarantee period. 1&1 has a 'pre-sales' info line which could help. But 1&1 is definitely worth a look in my opinion. According to Netcraft.com 1&1 has very good uptime.

I wasn’t even aware that exchange hosting specific companies existed. I have had some problems with 1-and-1 in the past and now I know I can go somewhere else if they keep up. I haven’t run into too many problems, mostly just a bunch of smaller ones but everything has been resolved and while I’m not happy, I’m satisfied.
